Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have been taken by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.

A man was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications via the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its workplace, Peter Moore, stated: "It is vital that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.

"These types of products being offered, normally online, have undergone no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their security.

"You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not understand the impact drugs like this might have on your health."
